Watch Guide: Week 3

This week we are adding a new twist to our weekly watch guide. From now on, Sean and I will have an on-going bet. Each week we will pick the 8 games and keep a tally going throughout the season, whoever picks the most games correctly will earn a 12-pack of Barq's Root Beer from the other. If this was at all confusing I will simplify it for you: We'll be picking the eight best games and Sean will be buying me a 12-pack of root beer when the regular season is over. Here we go.

#23 Northwestern (2-0) @ Duke (2-0) 12:30, ESPN3 **
This is a big opportunity for Duke and the ACC. Northwestern upset Stanford in one of the ugliest games of the season so far, but if Duke can win this game it will look great for their team and the rest of the conference.
Who to root for and why: DUKE OF COURSE.
Sean's Pick: Northwestern
JK's Pick: Duke
#18 Auburn (2-0, kind of) @ #13 LSU (1-0) 3:30, ESPN ****
Auburn has a lot to prove and a lot of adjustments to make after their major drop in the polls. Jeremy Johnson has been extremely unimpressive (5 interceptions in 2 games)  and LSU's only game was an impressive one at Mississippi State. This game will likely be an ugly, low-scoring affair.
W2R4&Y: You should root for the Tigers in this one.
Sean: LSU
JK: LSU

Nebraska (1-1) @ Miami (2-0) 3:30, ABC/ESPN2 ***
There's no telling how good Nebraska really is (I always think they are overrated) but this is a big game for Al Golden. Miami doesn't have too many games on their schedule where they will be favored.
W2R4&Y: Miami because they are on our schedule, this could be a big win for the ACC, and we don't want Al Golden to go anywhere.
Sean: Miami
JK: Miami

#14 Georgia Tech (2-0) @ #8 Notre Dame (2-0) 3:30, NBC *****
This is the first premier game for the ACC. Despite ND losing their starting QB and RB for the season, they are still a serious force in college football. They did struggle at Virginia last week but I believe they will come to play vs GT this week. Also GT's Julius Thomas is no joke. GT is favored.
W2R4&Y: This one is a toss up but I would pick Georgia Tech to root for because I think they are the real deal this year and would represent the ACC better down the road (who knows though it's Week 3).
Sean: Georgia Tech
JK: Georgia Tech

#7 Georgia (2-0) @ South Carolina (1-1) 6:30, ESPN ***
Georgia is heavily favored in this one and it might be for a good reason. Nick Chubb is a man-child and USCe's defense has given allowed a 100-yard rusher in each of their first two games. South Carolina as a whole is not a good team, but this game could end up being close.
W2R4&Y: You should go with the self-proclaimed "Ole Ball Coach" on this one, it would be great to see another almighty SEC team be exposed this season.
Sean: Georgia
JK: Georgia

California (2-0) @ Texas (1-1) 7:30, FOX **
Charlie Strong has to come up with something positive this week or it could really get ugly. That being said, Cal QB Jared Goff is REAL and on my preseason Heisman sleepers list. The talent around him is not great, but neither is Texas. This should be a fun game to watch.
W2R4&Y: Jared Goff, he's a baller and you should root for him as an underdog all year. (this game has a 0.2% effect on FSU)
Sean: California
JK: California

Stanford (1-1) @ #6 USC (2-0) 8:00, ABC ***
This will be USC's first real test. Stanford's offense has been one of the toughest in the nation to watch under Kevin Hogan. They were upset in week 1 but followed it up with a relatively impressive win over UCF in week 2. USC's offense is scary good (averaging 623.0 yards) but are yet to play a legitimate team.
W2R4&Y: This would be an excellent opportunity for a crazy college football upset so let's root for Stanford in this one.
Sean: USC
JK: USC

#15 Ole Miss (2-0) @ #2 Alabama (2-0) 9:15, ESPN *****
Alabama has been extremely impressive in their first two games, especially in the demolition of Wisconsin in week 1. Ole Miss' opponents up to this point have been a joke. They have a new quarterback by the name of Chad Kelly that Sean is particularly fond of along with a lot of star power from their sketchy 2013 recruiting class. Their "land shark" defense will have their hands full with one of the nation's best backfields for Alabama. Should be an excellent matchup.
Sean: Ole Miss
JK: Alabama
